Navigating the disability support system can feel overwhelming — especially when you’re trying to resolve a specific problem and don’t know where to start. That’s why Flying Kites is launching a new initiative to help Auckland whānau get the clarity and guidance they need.
Our 1:1 Online Support Sessions connect you with an experienced disability advisor who can help you work through one key issue and create a practical plan to move forward. These two focused appointments are designed to help you feel informed, confident, and supported.
What we can help with
Our advisors can currently support families with topics such as:
- Leaving school (transition support)
Understanding next steps, available pathways, and how to plan ahead. - New to Needs Assessments
What NASC does, how the process works, and what you can expect. - Individualised Funding (IF)
Setting up IF, understanding your options, and getting clarity on what’s possible. - Work and Income
Guidance on available supports, entitlements, and how to navigate the system.
How it works
If you’re based in the Auckland Region, simply fill out our short registration form to express your interest. Once submitted:
- We’ll match you with the right advisor based on your selected topic.
- You’ll receive a booking link to schedule your two online sessions.
- After your appointments, you’ll be invited to provide feedback — helping us measure impact and improve support for whānau across Tāmaki Makaurau.
Why we created these sessions
Families have been telling us that while broad support exists, sometimes you just need help with one specific thing — and quickly. These 1:1 sessions offer a focused, time-efficient way to get personalised guidance without long delays or complicated processes.
You don’t have to navigate the disability support system alone.
Flying Kites is here to walk alongside you.
