Leaving school is a big milestone — but for many young disabled or neurodivergent people, it can also be an uncertain one.
If you’re in the Mt Maunganui or Tauranga area and you're feeling unsure about what to do next, we’d love to help.
Flying Kites is offering a limited number of free one-on-one planning sessions to young people (ages 15–22) who are looking for support to explore what life after school could look like.
This is a chance to pause, talk things through, and start building a future that feels meaningful to you.
Who is this for?
This project is for young people who:
- Are aged 15–22
- Identify as disabled or neurodivergent
- Live in the Mt Maunganui or Tauranga region
- Are feeling a bit stuck about what comes next
- Want to explore community life, study options, supports, or goal setting
Whether you’re unsure what’s out there, feel like your days don’t have much structure, or just need a fresh perspective — we’re here to help.
What you’ll get
You’ll meet with one of our experienced planners (via Zoom) for personalised sessions tailored to you. We’ll talk through your hopes and challenges, help identify options you might not know about, and support you to take steps toward more independence, purpose, and connection.
We can also:
- Offer ideas about community activities or training
- Help you understand government supports
- Talk to your whānau or support team if that’s helpful
- Provide a summary of what you want to work towards
This is your space to think out loud and be supported in whatever way works for you.
When is it happening?
We’re running this pilot project between July and September 2025, with most sessions happening in July and August. Spaces are limited, and it’s completely free to take part.
