🕒 8 hours a week to start – flexible schedule, room to grow

We’re looking for someone special to become a regular playmate and support person for a bright, energetic 9-year-old boy with ASD and ADHD. This is more than a job – it’s a chance to build a consistent, meaningful relationship with a cool kid who thrives on movement, outdoor adventures, and the company of kind, understanding adults.

About the Role:
Start small (8 hours per week). Ideal times are:

• Monday and Thursday afternoons (from 3:30 to 5:30pm)

• Sunday afternoons (2–4pm) flexible

There’s potential for more hours over time. This is a great fit for someone local to South Auckland – flexibility is key in case we need a hand at short notice.

What You'll Be Doing:
🏃‍♂️ Physical play: trampolining, park visits, train watching, walking
🎲 Playtime at home: cars, tracks, trains (he has a lot!), lift rides at Bunnings
🧠 Engaging his interests, following his lead, and gently setting boundaries
🚗 Driving to local adventures (must have license)
🐶 Being cool with a high-energy, friendly Bichon-cross dog

Who We're Looking For:
✅ Someone fit and energetic – he’s quick on his feet and loves to move
✅ Experience with autism and understanding how to connect on his terms
✅ A natural at building trust and consistency
✅ Happy, kind, playful, and not afraid to be silly or chatty
✅ Open to starting slow – spend time at home first to build trust
✅ Someone who can commit long-term – ideally 18 months or more
✅ Students in their 20s or 30s with a consistent schedule – perfect!

Bonus (but not essential):

• Interest in encouraging him to learn new skills

• Ability to gently encourage less screen time

• He is:
  🧠 Semi-verbal – improving every day, understands more than he can say
  🚂 Obsessed with trains, lifts, Bunnings, and YouTube videos of nursery rhymes and trains
  💬 Loves adult company and chatty people – especially if you’re fun and friendly
