Are you calm, compassionate and great at connecting with kids?
Do you enjoy building trust, having fun, and supporting someone to feel safe and confident?

We’re looking for a caring person to spend time with a tween boy on a casual basis after school or on weekends, giving his parents a chance to catch up on their busy tasks.

He sometimes feels anxious, so we need someone who can “read the room” and adjust your approach to meet him where he’s at. The right person will be flexible, patient, and able to spark excitement for outings or activities while keeping him feeling safe and supported.

He loves gaming (like most kids!), but also enjoys board games, Lego, colouring, crafts, and sometimes trying fun activities out and about. A driver’s licence would be helpful for adventures further from home, but it’s not essential.

Because he is autistic, his family will use his disability funding to pay for this support. This means you’ll need to be set up as a contractor and able to provide an invoice.

This role is more than babysitting – it’s about building a relationship, adapting your communication, and helping him grow his confidence. We’d especially love to hear from someone local to Hobsonville Point.
