Weekday companion, mentor and ringleader
A young man with an intellectual disability is finishing school and needs your help to make his week exciting and meaningful. He’s ready to build a routine that includes volunteering, going to the gym, and finding his place in his local community.
You’ll be the kind of person who can help him connect with people, learn new skills, and come up with fun things to do in the quieter moments.
Each weekday, you’ll start around 9 or 10am and spend the day out and about together. When you return home in the afternoon, you’ll support him to contribute to the household — maybe by cooking dinner together or doing the laundry. He’s figuring out what adulthood looks like for him: he likes to be busy, sociable, and active, especially when he’s with someone he enjoys spending time with.
You don’t need prior disability experience — if you’re good at building relationships, spotting opportunities, and organising small adventures, you’ll fit right in. What matters most is that you’re reliable, responsible, and use initiative — a positive role model for the independent adult life he’s building.
Ideally, the role is Monday to Friday, 9.30am–5.30pm(approx.), but if you can do 3 or more full days, we’d still love to hear from you. A full licence and car are required.
