Out & About, Making Life Happen – Support Worker Wanted (Silverdale)
Email jobs@flyingkites.org.nz with your CV to apply.
We’re looking for one or two warm, reliable support workers to join a family and support their teenage son, who lives with cerebral palsy. He’s a joyful, chatty, and engaging young man who loves meeting new people, having a laugh, and being part of his community.
Hours available (approx. 20 per week):
- Tuesday: 4:00pm – 6:00pm (personal cares)
- Thursday: 4:00pm – 9:00pm (home & community activities)
- Saturday: 8:00am – 4:00pm (home & community activities)
- Sunday: 8:00am – 1:00pm (personal cares & community activities)
- One weekend a month off, flexible hours during school holidays.
These hours may suit one person or be shared between two.
About the role:
- Tuesday and Sunday include personal care, so experience in health or disability support is ideal.
- Thursday and Saturday focus on home and community engagement, supporting independence, participation, and relationships.
- You’ll be trained to confidently support him out in the community, including driving a van and using a hydraulic hoist.
The family are actively supporting him to build independence, make choices, and navigate teenage/adult life, so we’re looking for someone who genuinely values these goals.
You’ll need:
- A caring, positive, and respectful approach
- A full driver’s licence and confidence driving a van
- Your own transport (we are not on a bus route – approx. 7 minutes from the Silverdale on-ramp)
- Reliability and a good sense of humour 😊
Pay:
- $30–$35 per hour, depending on experience
If you enjoy meaningful work, building real connections, and supporting a young person to live a full and joyful life, we’d love to hear from you.
