Steady mentor needed – Support role with a great young person
📍 Titirangi | ⏰ Flexible weekday daytime hours (approx. 4 hrs/week) |🚗 Full licence + car required
This is not your typical student job.
A thoughtful, bright young tween is looking for someone steady, practical, and genuinely interested in building a connection over time. This role would suit someone with life experience — a mentor, youth worker, or someone who’s worked with young people and knows how to stay calm and grounded when things aren’t straightforward.
He has a wide range of interests, including:
● Computer hardware and pulling things apart (and hopefully back together)
● Restoring and fixing old items
● Birds — especially ducks and chickens
● Growing plants from seed
Your time together might look like working on a project at home, getting out and about, or following a new interest as it sparks. The key is having someone alongside him who can engage, guide, and gently hold boundaries when needed.
He can be fast, strong, and determined — especially when overwhelmed — so this role requires someone unflappable, who can look past behaviour and respond in a clear, calm, and steady way.
We’relooking for someone who:
● Is calm, patient, and emotionally resilient
● Has experience with young people (formal or informal)
● Can build trust over time (this won’t happen overnight)
● Enjoys practical, hands-on activities
● Is adaptable and can think on their feet
● Has a full driver’s licence and their own car
● Has flexibility during weekday daytime hours
School can be challenging, so this role focuses on the parts of the day when he’s not attending. We’re looking for someone who can become a consistent, trusted presence in his life — not just fill a shift.
Start with a few hours a week, with potential for more as the relationship develops.
