Help a neurodivergent young adult build confidence, independence and everyday life skills.

25–30 hours per week | Monday–Friday

We're looking for someone who really gets him.

Someone who can build a genuine connection, roll with the tougher days, laugh off the occasional inappropriate joke, and understand that Autism and ADHD don't look the same every day.

This role is supporting an intelligent, funny and curious 18-year-old who is studying a fitness-related diploma. He loves politics, history, languages, board games, gaming, mountain biking and the gym. He'll happily disappear down a rabbit hole learning something new, but can also find it surprisingly hard to get out of bed, stay on task or remember the everyday things.

That's where you come in.

You'll help him build routines, cook a few meals, get to the gym, walk the dogs and develop the practical life skills that lead to greater independence. It's less about doing things for him and more about helping him discover what works for him. Having the skills and passion to help him with his studies (deadlines, study plans, or being alongside him while he learns from home) would add tremendous value.

We're looking for someone who is calm, organised and encouraging. Someone who understands neurodiversity, enjoys building genuine relationships and knows how to motivate without becoming another parent.

Hours

We're flexible and would consider one person or two people sharing the role.

Ideally, support includes weekday mornings (starting a round 8:30–9:00am) for 2–3 hours, around 3 hours in the afternoon or evening, and one overnight stay each month on a Friday or Saturday.

This totals approximately 25–30 hours per week in Raumati South.
