A family in Totara Heights is looking for a warm, patient person to help around the house, starting with the everyday stuff (housework, cooking, keeping things running) while slowly building a relationship with their son, who has autism and an intellectual disability.

He's 19, pretty placid, and very much his own person - he loves his room, his iPad, his Toy Story figurines, and a good long drive with no traffic (motorways are a favourite). He has his routines and likes to follow them, and does best with someone who's happy to go at his pace rather than rush him.

This role isn't about diving straight into hands-on support, although eventually that is the goal. It starts with helping around the house - laundry, cleaning, helping with meals - and simply being present, so he gets used to having you there. Over time, as trust builds, the role grows into more time hanging out with him doing what he loves — but there's no rush on that, and it's guided by what feels right for you both.

We'd love to hear from someone reliable, unhurried, and genuinely warm. Experience with autism is a bonus, not a requirement. Hours are weekday afternoons (2–6pm, 3-5 days per week) plus 4 hours on a Saturday morning.
